According to the Dodge online owner's manual for the 2013 Dodge Journey, the 2.4L automatic transmission version has a maximum trailer towing weight rating of 1000-lbs and a maximum tongue weight rating (TW is downward force on the hitch) of 100-lbs. This includes the weight of up to 5 passengers and luggage. The most the vehicle and a connected trailer can weigh together is 6000-lbs.
The 3.6L versions naturally has higher weight ratings.
Towing above the rated capacities is never recommended and even towing within a vehicle's rated capacities is best done with care and often with aftermarket items such as a transmission cooler installed to reduce the increased heat generated by towing. The 2013 2.4L Journey can use Derale transmission cooler # D13503.
