Question:
I have a new 2016 Nissan Titan XD truck. I purchased a 2007 Montana 5th trailer. The 5th wheel hitch is a goose neck hitch. When I block the trailer to the try k its ok. The problem is when it comes to releasing the trailer. The release cable wont do it. I have to take the 4 bolts out in order to get the trailer off then put the bolts back in. The previous owner said he had no problem with it. Do I need to replace the hitch or cable. Thank you.

Have you measured to make sure the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3139 works with the hitch ball in your 2016 Nissan Titan XD? If not, what you need to do is line up your fifth wheel and Titan on level ground and measure from the bottom of the pin box to the top of the gooseneck ball. That measurement needs top be between 11-3/4" and 14-3/4" for the adapter to work with your truck.
As for the release cable if nothing is happening when you attempt to use it then the replacement would be # AM3112.
I've added links a link to a help article on fifth wheel to gooseneck hitch adapters for you to take a look at as well.
