Transmission Cooler for a 2017 Mazda 3 with the 2.0L I4 Engine

Question:

A search for 2017 Mazda 3 2.0L I4 engine transmission cooler, a bunch of brands came up. Take Derale for example. Customers are given 4 items to choose from. My question is, whats the difference between them?

There are three different style's of transmission coolers; remote mount, standard mount, and pan mount. The most common cooler we have is a standard mount cooler that will need to be positioned on the front of the vehicle where airflow is sufficient. A remote mounted transmission cooler can be located anywhere on the vehicle as the included fan will ensure the proper amount of airflow is received. The last type of transmission cooler we offer is a pan mounted cooler which replaces your factory transmission pan.

Of the standard mount coolers, we have several different designs such as frame rail, plate/fin, and tube/fin. The plate and fin transmission coolers are the most efficient. Generally speaking, the best transmission cooler to use would be the largest one you have space available for in front of the radiator/condensor behind the grill.

The transmission coolers we have listed as a fit for you vehicle are more or less based on the type of load you will be towing as specified by (Class I, Class II, and Class III). For your 2017 Mazda 3 I recommend using the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets part # D13503. This cooler is fairly large and features the more advanced plat/fin technology.
