Size and Class of Trailer Hitch Receiver to Fit a 2017 Honda Pilot to Carry a Thule Bike Rack

Question:

Hi, I have a question about Item # C13146. I am interested in purchasing this item for my 2017 Honda Pilot and was wondering if this same item comes with a smaller receiver diameter? 1inch - 1 1/2inch ? We would only be using the hitch for a Thule bike rack. Thanks

Trailer hitch receivers are available in standard sizes and are given a Class specification associated with their weight capacity. Bike racks fit either a 1-1/4 inch (Class I or Class II) or 2 inch (Class III) hitch receiver. The hitches for your 2017 Honda Pilot, including the Curt # C13146, are Class III, 2 inch receivers. Class III hitches are the most popular on the road today and therefore accommodate more bike racks and other accessories than other sizes. If you already have a Thule bike rack that fits a 1-1/4 inch receiver let me know which rack it is and I'll see if there is a way to adapt it to fit the larger size.

If you don't already have a Thule bike rack a great option is the Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR. It fits the Class III trailer hitch and carries up to 4 bikes that are 35 pounds each. If this rack doesn't suit your needs let me know what kind of criteria you're looking for in a rack and I can make a more specific recommendation.
