How To Remove the Nutsert Fitting From the DeeZee Tailgate Assist

Question:
DZ 43200 tailgate assist. I purchased 3 years ago. The ball and socket connection has come loose and the spring connecting the shock absorber has corroded through. If I purchase another unit, how do I extract the ball and socket connection? Thanks

If you are referring to the brass nutsert thats comes attached to the nutsert tool in the Replacement Bracket Kit for DZ43200 Tailgate part # BKT43200 you will need to use a small pick or set of needle nose pliers to remove it. The nutsert is merely pressed into the tailgate and will just need to be carefully pulled outward.
