You are on the right track! When installing the Blue Ox Trail LIght Wiring Kit # BX8811, you will essentially have wires coming into the block diode from the RV and in from the vehicle. Then the wires coming out will go to the vehicle's rear tail lights.
I have attached the complete installation instructions for the Blue Ox Trail Light Wiring Kit for you to take a look at. This will give you much more detailed installation steps than the diagram you are referring to. As you mentioned, you will simply follow the instructions for "Type A" if your vehicle just has standard red turn signals.
Starting in the engine component of your towed vehicle, you will run the 26 foot harness through the firewall, under the driver side door, under the back set and into the trunk area. Depending on how your motorhome/RV is setup, the wire at the front of the engine compartment should be wired into either a 4-wire or 6-wire trailer plug.
At the rear of the towed vehicle, you are going to first make sure that the white wire is grounded to the vehicle chassis. Using a circuit tester like # PTW2993, you will then need to identify the "hot" wires that power the brake and tail lights/running lights on your car. Once the tail light and turn signal wires are identified, you will simply make the necessary connections as described in the installation manual.
