Does Draw Tite Hitch 65028 Fit 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500

Question:

I measured the Hitch Draw Tite #65028 that I purchased through Amazon and it measures 28 3/4. I have to return but im hesitant to buy another one

The dimensions of the Draw Tite hitch part # 65028 are designed to perfectly match the frame that you have on your 2003 Chevy Silverado that measures 28-1/2 inches. I confirmed this with Draw Tite. I also attached an install video that shows it installed on a truck just like yours.

What it sounds like happened with the previous hitch you bought is that the brackets bent slightly in shipping. Sometimes hitches can get slightly bent during shipping and this can be fixed by bending the hitch back into place as long as the hitch only has a slight bend to it. If yours isn't lining up I can almost guarantee that is what happened. Some people will use open steps for leverage, vices and even car jacks to apply controlled force to bend the hitch back. You will want to look for flaking paint and physical stress marks on the hitch before and after you attempt to bend the hitch back. If you see any of those signs on the hitch you should not use the hitch on your vehicle as it has been fatigued to the point of not being safe to use.
