Question:

I tow a Jayflight Swift SLX camper weighing less than 3,500 lbs witb a 2014 Chevy Silverado crew cab 5.3L. Im wanting to put install a dual hitch receiver so that I can put a cargo area on the 2nd receiver to mount my gas generator. Which receiver do you recommend. Camper has a 3200 GVWR and max tongue weight of 290 lbs. I will be leaving in 11 days so any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated

The best option to use is the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver # D210 as a dual hitch receiver will reduce your Tongue Weight (TW) capacity by 50%.

The Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount is rated for 7,500 lbs Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) and 750 lbs of TW so it fits into your weight capacity range perfectly. I checked online and it looks like your 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has a towing capacity of 7,100 lbs. Since a typical TW rating is 10% of the hitch towing capacity you will want to stay within a 710-lb TW. You will also want to check with your owner's manual to verify your weight capacities. You will also need a hitch ball with a 1" diameter shank like the 2" Tow Ready Hitch Ball # 63845.
