What Does Each Button Do On Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller

Question:
Tekonshaw primus iq. There is a dial top left, a button top centerand a push button right side. I do not have a manual that tells me what these are or how to set them. Another traveller did a quick and dirty reset for us when the brakes started locking up, but his description of what he was doing left me scratching my head. HELP!

I can help you!
Your Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller # TK90160 is a really nice proportional controller that will work great for you. When looking at the front of the unit itself, the top left dial is the power wheel. The blue push button is the Boost Button and the slide mechanism on the side of the unit is the "Manual Slide Knob" (this is the manual trailer brake override). I have attached an image that will help you identify these buttons on your controller.
When setting the controller back up to adjust the power to the trailer brakes, you will first want to connect the trailer to your tow vehicle. With the engine running, hold the manual full left and set the Power Knob to indicate 6.0 on the display screen. Simply drive the tow vehicle and trailer on a level paved surface at 25 mph, then fully apply the manual slide knob. If the brakes lock up, turn the power down using the Power Knob. If the braking was not sufficient, turn the power up. You will then just repeat these steps until the power is set to a point just below wheel lock up.
I have also included the complete installation details for the Primus IQ that you can look through. This will further explain how to set up the boost settings for your trailer and any other troubleshooting issues you might run into.
