Trailair Flex Air 5th Wheel Pin Boxes, such as the Lippert # LC328492, are designed to replace the existing pin box on your trailer. The long and short jaw models that you referenced in your question simply refer to the type of pin box that the unit is designed to replace.
In order to find the correct replacement king pin, you will want to determine what you have on your trailer. The easiest way to do this is to simply look for the pin box number on your trailer, which should be located on the king pin itself, with a sticker or stamp. If you are unable to locate this information, you can also contact the trailer manufacturer with your VIN and they will be able to provide you with this number.
For example, the Lippert # LC328492 referenced above is designed to replace the Lippert 1621 pin box. The Lippert 1621 pin box is considered a long style unit.
