Troubleshooting Titan Surge Disc Brake Actuator

Updated 09/11/2017 | Published 09/07/2017

Question:

I have a tandem axle boat trailer with a titon 10 coupler, with dual axle disc brakes kodiak. All 4 wheels stay locked up while towing and with trailer disconnected. Release fluid pressure with 1 bleeder and all 4 wheels spin freely. Towed trailer again and wheels locked back up again. I do have a reverse lock out solenoid. My question is could the solenoid be stuck in the closed position and holding pressure, and when pressure is released, and brakes are reapplied can fluid be pressed thru the closed solenoid and then stay pressurized. Or could the master cylinder be keeping the brakes pressurized? Thanks.

It could be that your reverse lockout solenoid needs replacement. Part # T4748800 is the replacement part. But I suspect your master cylinder is the cause for the brakes staying locked up until you release the pressure from the bleed valve on one of the calipers.

You can check your master cylinder to see if the piston returns to its normal position after you manually compress it. If not you will want to replace it with part # T4747100 which fits the model 10 disc actuator. For the same item with cylinder brackets use part # T4749501042.
