The 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 and 1998 Dodge Durango differ in design enough that they require different trailer hitch and wiring harness models. For example, the Draw-Tite # 75081, which is what I would recommend for your 1998 Dodge Durango, is only a confirmed fit for the 1998-2003 Dodge Durango. It is not compatible with any other vehicle.

If you are needing a trailer hitch for your 1998 Dodge Ram, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class IV # 37130. This is confirmed to fit this truck and will provide a 2 inch receiver opening for a ball mount or accessory.

Then for wiring, both vehicles you mentioned also have different, custom-fit wiring harnesses. For the 1998 Dodge Durango, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118334. This will install by connecting directly to built-in ports behind the driver and passenger side tail lights on the vehicle.
