Question:

hello, I am currently using a generic roof basket and mounting kit see attached picture. however, im having trouble with the mounts loosening over time because they are being tightened down onto square cross rails, rather than the more aerodynamic curved bar shape that this mount is meant to attach to. Its not a huge issue because the basket is secure, but it starts to slide side to side along the cross rails. Can you recommend some mounting hardware that would work with square cross rails? Thanks!

Most rooftop cargo baskets' hardware is designed to work with multiple roof rack bar shapes. For instance, the Curt Roof Mounted Cargo Basket # C18115-117 fits round, square, elliptical and aero bars, as well as most factory roof racks.

If you are able to install and tighten the existing mounting hardware then what I suggest is to simply use some thread locker like # LT37420 to keep the knobs from backing off as you drive. It is generally safer to use the hardware made for the cargo basket.
