Fork Mounted Bike Rack Mount Recommendations for the Bed of a 2003 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab

Question:

I have a 2003 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab with a short bed and I want to carry one mountain bike using a front fork bike mount. What do you suggest and where should I mount it. Is it easy to mount and how does it secure to the bed or wall, simply by screwing in, because how would you get underneath to bolt it. Any help would be appreciated.

To install the Yakima BlockHead Single Bike Truck Bed Mounted Rack, part # Y01117, you will need to use the included template and drill two holes in the bed of your truck near the back and then run the bolts through those hole and use the included fender washers and nuts to attach this from the underside of your bed.

To access the underside of your bed you will most likely need to crawl underneath the rear of your truck. Having a buddy help you out at this point would be nice. One guy to have a wrench on the bolt in the bed of your truck, and another guy underneath tightening the nuts.

Another option that you have that would not require you to drill into your truck bed and would be an even easier install would be to get a Yakima BedHead Single Bike Truck Bed Mounted Rack, part # Y01132. This rack clamps on the rail of your bed and can be easily installed by one person to secure your mountain bike using the front forks.
