Trailer Hitch for 2012 Ram 3500 that Replaces the Factory Installed Trailer Hitch

Question:

hi, i have a 2012 ram 3500 single rear wheel. i am looking for a new receiver that will replace the factory one and will mount at the factory height. i can loose the clearance by having an aftermarket one mount below the factory. Any info would be greatly appreciated

For your 2012 Ram 3500 with factory trailer hitch I recommend the Draw-Tite Class V hitch # DT45509. The factory hitch will need to be removed so this hitch can be installed. Once installed the receiver will be right up under the bumper in the same location as the stock hitch was. All of the other options require mounting a hitch so that the receiver will be below the factory receiver and you will lose the ground clearance.

I also recommend etrailer.com Ball Mount Kit for 2-1/2" Hitches - 1-1/2" Rise or 3" Drop - 18,000 lbs Item # EBMK25318. If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
