Expert Reply:
For the 2012 Ram 1500 with the 5-1/2 foot bed, Curt Double Lock, Flip, and Store Underbed Gooseneck Hitch, # C60730, is compatible for your vehicle per the installation instructions.
Since your vehicle has the short bed, I recommend The Curt 4 Inch Offset Ball, # C602. This offset ball will provide you with an additional 4 inches of space between your gooseneck trailer and the cab of your Ram 1500.
