If the motor on your Husky Electric Trailer Jack HT87247 works when lowering but cannot raise there are a couple of possibilities. The power supply feeding the jack may not be sufficient for the load; the 12v feed on a vehicle 7-way may not be delivering amount of current the jack needs. A power jack often needs a dedicated trailer-mounted battery to get the required lifting power.
If you do have a dedicated battery, check and make sure you have a good ground at the jack mount with no rust or paint then ensure all the other connections are solid. You mentioned the switch and that is also a possibility, though you will want to test it first by using a circuit tester such as # PTW2993. Should the switch end up being the problem, there is no longer a Husky replacement switch. You would have to source the switch from an electronic supply store.
Chances are that your motor has failed, or the gears are damaged from over extension. Either of these will mean purchasing a new jack.
I think the best value for an A-frame tongue jack is the Stromberg Carlson # SC63VR which is rated for 4500 pounds of tongue weight. This is 1000 pounds more than other models, and even though you may not need this much capacity, you will find that the jack motor runs quick and effortlessly. This will add years to its life. This jack also has a unique clutch that prevents damage from overextending or retracting the jack foot - the most common reason for jack failure. I also like that is has a generous 23" lift, including a timesaving drop-foot. It includes LED lights for operating the hitch in the dark, and a built-in bullseye leveling bubble.
