I do have a solution for you, however the sliding 5th-wheel hitches we have available are not recommended for use on a 2017 Ram 1500 that has the Rambox like yours. The issue is that the Rambox feature can interfere with a sliding hitch, which is what is typically needed on short bed trucks in order to provide proper clearance during sharp turns.
To tow a 5th-wheel trailer with your Ram 1500, I recommend going with a fixed 5th wheel hitch like the Reese M5 # RP30928 along with the Semi-Custom Base Rails # RP30035-386. This hitch will provide a gross towing weight of 20,000 pounds and a forged, single jaw for a secure connection with the trailer king-pin to reduce rattle and movement.
You will then want to install a Sidewinder pin box on your trailer. A Sidewinder will move the pivot point from the center of the hitch head back 22 inches, providing the necessary turn clearance and avoiding interference issues with the RamBox. The Reese Sidewinders are designed to replace the standard king pin on a trailer. In order to determine the correct Sidewinder, you will want to locate the pin box number on your trailer, which should be located on the king pin itself. If you cannot find this information, you can also contact the trailer manufacturer with your VIN and they will be able to provide you with this number.
For example, the Reese Sidewinder # RP34FR is designed to replace the Lippert 0719, 1621 and 1621HD pin boxes.
