Expert Reply:

If a tow bar isn't sitting with the accepted level range you will have a few issues. You will wear out the front suspension of the towed vehicle and you will wear out the front tires of the vehicle being towed.

Also, tow bars eventually will wear out over time. If you have an out of level setup the bar will wear out quicker too.
