Hi, Bought Thule Outway Item # TH45JV from you a couple a years ago. AM now looking at ebikes and am told that trunk racks are not suitable because of weight. Can you give me some idea how much the rack could support, weight-wise? Thanks.

The Thule OutWay 2-Bike Rack # TH45JV you currently have can hold up to 2 bikes with a total weight of 66 pounds, or 33 pounds each. This will be the typical weight capacity of almost any trunk-mounted bike rack.
If you are looking to possibly transport heavier e-bikes, you will want to look at hitch-mounted bike carriers with higher weight capacities or that are designed specifically for this type of application. For example, the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 2-Bike Carrier # HLY84FR features a bolstered steel construction for carrying 2 electric bikes. It has a weight capacity of 80 pounds per bike and is compatible with 2 inch trailer hitch receivers.
