Question:
Are there any trunk bike mounts for pick up trucks? Just wondering if there is an alternative to a hitch bike carrier for pick ups. Thanks

We have quite a few options available for transporting bikes with a truck like your 2014 Ram 1500 that do not require the use of a trailer hitch.
A similar alternative to a traditional trunk-mounted bike rack like what you see on vehicles is the Thule Gate Mate # H824PRO. This is a heavy-duty, padded vinyl cover that provides an easy way to carry up to 8 bikes over the tailgate of your Ram. The cover fits over the closed tailgate and your bikes will secure over the pad with the front wheels hanging outside the truck. A benefit of this type of product is that it still allows use of most of your truck bed when transporting the bikes. I have attached a video demonstration on this bike carrier so you can see exactly how it works.
I also recommend looking at the Thule Insta-Gator # TH93VR. This rack will clamp to the tailgate on your pickup truck and will secure your bike in an upright position. Integrated clamps attach to the bike wheel and the included security cable will protect your bike and help to deter theft.
