When using a trunk-mounted bike rack such as the Yakima Fullback 2, # Y02634, the back tailgate on your 2008 Acura MDX will need to remain closed when the rack is on. If access to your rear storage area is something you value, there are still options available.

One of those is the SeaSucker Hornet Rear Window Bike Rack, # 298-BH1302, a one-bike rack that uses vacuum cups to attach to the rear window of your MDX and has a weight capacity of 35 lbs. The Hornet secures the bike via ratcheting straps that attach to the handlebars, as well as a cam buckle strap which goes around the handlebar stem for extra security. You will be able to open the rear hatch with these, though the bikes will need to be removed first.

Another option would be a hitch-mounted rack, which would require the use of a trailer hitch receiver. Of the two confirmed fits for your 2008 Acura MDX, I recommend the Draw-Tite, # 75614, over the Curt because the Curt requires the use of stabilizing straps with a bike rack while the Draw-Tite does not. A hitch-mounted bike rack which will allow you to open your rear cargo area while it is installed is the Curt 2 Bike Platform Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting # C18085. This is a tilt-away rack, and requires you only pull a pin to lower the support arm so you can access your rear storage. The Curt rack is a two-bike carrier which has a carrying capacity of 90 lbs.
