We have a variety of roof mounted cab lights for your 1985 Custom Deluxe. Although there are many different types, the majority of them will have the same installation method/instructions. The Clearance Light Kit part # CB-15AK has everything you will need to install cab lights on your truck.
The first thing you will want to do is disconnect your vehicle's battery. You will then want to use the cab lights to mark out the position on the roof where you want the lights to sit. After this is done, you will need to remove the headliner from the inside of the truck. Once the headliner is remove, you can then drill through the roof of the cab for the mounting holes you have previously identified.
After the mounting holes have been drilled, you can then begin to place the lights on the roof of the cab and attach the wires to one another as explained in the instructions provided with the kit. The cab lights can either be ran to your vehicle's headlight circuit or independently using the provided switch.
In some cases, the factory roof, or any non metal surface will not provide a sufficient grounding surface for the lights, therefore you will want to make your own ground wire just to be sure as these light are self grounding. For this, you will want to add a ground wire circuit to each light by attaching a wire to the mounting screw. Once this is done you will then need to tie the ground wires on all 5 lights to a single wire. Once complete you will need to run the wire down from the roof through your pillar into a solid metal surface on the cab of the vehicle. In order to do this, you will need about 5-6 feet of the Primary Wire - 16-Gauge part # DW02359-1 and 1 of our Deka Ring Terminal part # DW05737-1.
I have attached a list of all of our roof mounted cab and clearance lights for your review.
