Crossbar Spread For Yakima Roof Rack on 2017 Volkswagen Golf

Question:

Hello, Your descriptions for most Yakima racks indicate a 32-inch crossbar spread on the 2015-2017 VW Golf. VWs factory rack claims 28 inches and the mounting dimples that are stamped in the door jamb are 28 inches apart. How is it that Yakima is achieving the additional four inches? Are they measuring differently? Are they not using factory mounting points? Or is it perhaps a typo? Id like to solve this riddle before committing to an order.

I checked with Yakima to verify their crossbar spread dimension of their rack that consists of part numbers # Y00421, # Y28TR, # Y06123, and # Y06125 and it is 32 inches between the front and rear bar on center.

From the front windshield to the front crossbar it will measure 7 inches. You can use these dimensions to find out exactly where the roof rack will end up on your roof.

I attached a picture that I took from Yakima's site to verify this as well.
