Question:
Im looking at hitches for my 15 Renegade and my 16 Trailhawk Renegade. On the Curt Class III the Trailhawk shows you just remove the 6 bolts and reuse them. I havent compared the 2 personally myself underneath, but is there any reason the holes couldnt be tapped for M14 screws and those placed instead of making the one hole bigger? Unless I am missing something... different gauge metal, or it is an actual nut welded to the Trailhawk. Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13269 which fits both the 2015 and 2016 models of the Jeep Renegade is a custom fit trailer hitch receiver which means that it is manufactured to fit pre-existing holes in your Jeep's frame.
The reason that the Trailhawk model doesn't need to have the holes enlarged is because the M14 bolts are already installed into weld nuts. You will want to make sure to follow the instructions for your model as that is how the manufacturer tested and approved it. Any other installation process will void the warranty and could result in dangerous situations.
I am not sure if you are looking at getting 2 hitches, one for each Renegade, or if you are looking to swap one hitch out between both of them. If you are planning to swap it out please note that hitch hardware is meant to only be used and torqued down once. If you have already used hardware for an installation you will need to get new hardware to install it again. You can find replacement hardware on our website with part # RHK. You simply choose the manufacturer of your hitch and type in the hitch number before placing your order.
I have attached a link to a video that we shot of this hitch being installed on a a 2016 Jeep Renegade that you can follow.
