Can Trailer Battery for Interior Lights Ground to Frame as Well as Trailer Lighting

Question:
Hello, Im building a small utility and camping trailer that I plan towing with my motorcycle. I want to install a small AUX battery in the trailer for dome lights and a small fan. I will be grounding the battery to the trailer frame, and will be charging it with a solar panel. I will be using a standard 4-way trailer connector coming from the motorcycles lights and ground for the trailer lights. If I ground the trailers lights and 4-way connector to the trailer frame, will this cause any problems with the AUX battery using the same ground? Or, should I use a floating ground for the AUX battery? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
If you wanted to ground your accessories/lights to the trailer frame then yes you'd want to ground the battery to the trailer frame as well. This would not be an issue if you had your trailer taillights grounded to the trailer frame as well. Everything grounding to the frame would work fine together.
