Converter Recommendation to Add Dedicated Turn Signals to UTV
Updated 06/07/2017 | Published 06/06/2017 >
Question:
I want to use the Taillight converter on my UTV so that I can add turn signals to the existing taillights. My UTV already supports Taillights and Stop Lights on an existing factory circuit. I am planning on splicing into the factory harness to get to the Stop Lights and Taillights. I am building a separate circuit to create the L-Turn and R-Turn Signals. I am trying to minimize the modifications to the factory electrical system so the 12V power, R-Turn, and L-Turn signals are on their own circuit with a separate fuse. There is always the possibility that a fuse could blow on one circuit, while the other circuit remains energized. If the fuse were to blow on the circuit that contains the 12V Power, R-Turn, and L-Turn signals it would be possible for power to be still applied to the Stop Light and Taillight inputs of the Taillight Converter. Is the Taillight converter protected against damage for this scenario? My concern is since the 12V Power input is off, some of the electronics in the Taillight converter could be reversed biased and I want to make sure this scenario does not damage the converter.

We have one wiring harness that can convert a combined taillight circuit to be separate so that you could wire in a set of dedicated turn signals. For that you would want the part # 118158. All of the power this converter uses to power the taillights comes from the circuits it is connected to so if your taillights were off the turn signals would be off as well.
