The use of an extension like the Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender - 2-1/2" to 2" Trailer Hitch - 6" Long # HR26 will not work with a weight distribution system. The use of an adapter like this reduces the tongue weight by 1/3 to 1/2 depending on the actual extender and is not intended for use with weight distribution. If you just need the reducer for your system, I recommend the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve - 2-1/2" to 2" # C45405 which will make things compatible as long as you are within the tongue weight ratings of your Class IV hitch.
If you need to use an extension with a weight distribution system, you need a reinforced and specially made hitch like the # TLC1209 for short bed or # TLC1208 for long bed trucks, but this will require removing your factory hitch. This also requires a special extension like the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension for SuperHitch Trailer Hitch Receivers - 21" Long # TLE1521. This system will allow you to use your weight distribution system to tow your trailer.
