The etrao;er 24x60 Inch Folding Cargo Carrier, item # e98874, will clear the rear bumper of your 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe if the measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole to the farthest out part of the bumper is less than 9-1/2 inches. You will need to measure to be sure, using a straight edge, like a yard stick, and a tape measure you can hold the straight edge against the rear bumper and then measure straight back to the center of the hitch pin hole on your hitch. I am confident that you will be able to fold the carrier while it is installed on this vehicle.

I would not recommend a hitch extension of any kind, because the use of hitch extensions reduces the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent and creates greater torque on the hitch and vehicle frame, potentially leading to damage.
