For your 1997 Ford Super Duty 7.3L Crew Cab short bed pickup with or without overload springs you can use Demco custom 5th wheel rail kit # DM8552005-71. This includes above-bed base rails that fit all brands of industry-standard 5th wheel hitches, including your Reese. This custom kit reduces you drilling and overall installation time.
A lower-cost alternative that takes more time to install is a universal kit # RP30035. This kit requires drilling into the truck frame while the custom kit does not.
