Recommended Class lll Trailer Hitch For 2017 Subaru Forester

Question:
I want to mount a class III receiver with a 2inch opening on my new 2017 Forester. I know this is overkill because I dont plan to tow anything. I have a solid Thule bike rack with a 2inch tongue that I like to use on all my vehicles. Is there any reason why I could not do this? Which model of hitch would fit the best?

Expert Reply:
The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2017 Forester is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # 75876. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening. One important feature for this hitch is that the distance from the hitch pin hole to the back of the vehicle bumper is 5-inches so you want to make sure your bike carrier has at least 6-inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the carrier.
