Question:

Can I replace the stock hitch on my 2014 F150 with the Curt C14002 hitch? I need a little more tongue weight capacityfactory is 500#. Thanks!

I did some checking and in the owner's manual for the 2014 Ford F-150 it indicates a gross trailer weight capacity of 5,000 pounds UNLESS the truck has the heavy duty trailer towing package. If it does have the heavy duty towing package it does not give a value for the max tongue weight but just says 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight. Then there are tables that show the various gross combined weights of the various models of the 2014 F-150. Which doesn't make too much sense since you would have to know how much your truck by itself weighs and then subtract that from the GCWR value listed to determine how much trailer weight you can tow.

Basically the point of all this is to make sure that your particular model is rated for more than 500 pounds tongue weight because even if the hitch is rated higher you would still go by the lowest rated component in the system.

Since your truck has a factory trailer hitch the only available aftermarket hitch for the truck is TorkLift hitch # TLF1005H and it will fit as long as the factory hitch is rated to 10,500 but NOT models with the one rated for 11,500 pounds. I cannot guarantee that a hitch for a model that did not come with the factory hitch will fit if you remove the factory hitch.
