Can Trailer Wiring 4-Ways be Used to Power 12 Volt Lights
Updated 05/09/2017 | Published 05/08/2017 >
Question:
I was wondering if I could use a 4 pin trailer plug to run an LED light for my truck. The lights use a 12V source but have a positive and negative side. Can I wire this to a 4 pin? Thanks.

Expert Reply:
4-way connectors are designed to carry 12 volt power circuits. A lot of people use them to power LED light bars mounted below the tailgate so you could easily do what you are looking for. The white wire of the 4-way is typically the ground.
The part # HM48205 comes with both 4-way connectors needed so it would work well.
