Question:

I have both a Kuat NV with extension and a Kuat Sherpa. Id like to mount both of them to my garage wall securely. Is the Swagman X Mount my best option? Im a little nervous about these heavy racks crashing down on one of my cars.

The Swagman X Mount wall-mount bike carrier storage rack # S80940 has a 100-lb weight capacity which is plenty for the weights of your Kuat NV # NV22G and Sherpa # SH22G hitch bike carriers. The thing to keep in mind is that the interior garage wall surface you mount these to needs to be strong enough for the load you'll put on it.

Your best bet is to use a wall stud finder to locate the wall studs in the garage and to install the X Mounts on those structural points. An alternative (or additional) technique is to first mount a sturdy board to the wall (to distribute the load over a larger area) and to then mount the X Mounts to it. This is a good idea even if you easily find the wall studs.

Naturally, keeping the stowed racks in their folded-up position will also reduce stress on the mounting point by keeping that weight load closer to the wall where it will exert less leverage on the fasteners used to install it.
