Question:
I have a 2005 KZ Sportsmen 5th wheel camper weighs about 5000 lbs. The axles have been flipped. My unit has mounting hardware in place but I will have to modify the plate. I will have 9inch between my mounting for the shocks. Will the Lippert Shock LC 283271 be my best choice. Also have about a 1off set between my 1/2inch holes aligning perfectly straight. I could heat up and bend the mounting bracket a little then it would line up straight.

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Lippert Components Standard Replacement Shock - Black # LC283271 is a good choice for your application if you can line up the mounts. This shock has a 7.5 inch compressed length and 12 inch extended length so your 9 inches will fit but have limited travel.
Your other option is to use an equilizer style suspension system like the E-Z Flex Heavy Duty Rubber Suspension System by Dexter Axle - 7-3/4" Equalizers # K71-653-00. This system replaces your equilizer on your tandem axle trailer to add the rubber core suspension that isolates and absorbs shock. You can use a system like this instead of shocks or in addition to shocks.
