Does Dump Door Hinge PLR1904-Z Have Weight Capacity

Question:

Hey, I would like to use this product as a steel gate hinge. I would like to know if there is a load ratting for this hinge. I the gate sections way about 700 lbs with another 100 lbs of sound blanket. I would use four hinges per section. would the PLR1904-z model hinge do the job. Also there will be a gate wheel on the end of each section with a rating of 300 lbs. Thank you for your time.

The Polar Hardware Dump Door Hinge, Steel # PLR1904-Z that you referenced does not have a weight rating. I spoke with my contact at Polar, and he confirmed that they do not have a weight rating for this hinge. The capacity of this hinge will largely depend on the installation and how the hinge is welded. My contact at Polar confirmed that the hinge is constructed of 1/4 inch thick steel and has a pin with a diameter of 1/2 inches. While speaking with my contact at Polar, I mentioned the application you are intending to use this hinge with, and my contact thought this hinge will work well for you.
