Will Older Falcon Tow Bar Fit Roadmaster Base Plates for a 2015 Fiat 500 Pop

I have an older model Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain Tow bar circa mid 2000s that incorporates a crossbar that fits across the removable base plates. 1. Will the crossbar fit and correctly span the distance between the two removable base plates on the Fiat 500 Pop? The towbar was last used on a 2010 Jeep and the removable baseplates were square and not round. Im hoping that the round parts will still accept the crossbar assembly. 2. Im assuming the tow bar itself will be acceptable for this vehicle, correct? Thanks for any input.

Your Falcon tow bar will work with Roadmaster base plates # 522013-1A for the 2015 Fiat 500 Pop. Most Roadmaster tow bars use that crossbar you mentioned and it is still used for the new versions of the Falcon series.

The tow bar, assuming it is in good working order, will work well with your Fiat. No worries, it sounds like you have things under control!

If you do not have safety cables I recommend # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground. If you do not yet have a lighting solution for the Fiat you could use a simple kit that bypasses the vehicle wiring such as # RM-2120. Or another option that is more permanent and also bypasses the vehicle wiring is bulb and socket kit # RM-155.

You may also need a high/low adapter to keep the tow bar level. I have linked a help article showing how to measure and a link to the high/low adapters we carry.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the preferred systems for our installers and what I recommend is the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO proportional system, # SM99251. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

Also, if your vehicle's brake lights do not illuminate when the vehicle is off or if the ignition is in the "tow" position you will also need Stop Light Switch # RM-751455 if using a braking system with a monitoring system.
