Installing Aftermarket Brake Controller On 2013 Chevrolet Silverado With Factory Brake Controller

Do you have an install video for a tekonsha prodigy on a 2013 chevy 2500 that already has an integrated in dash factory brake controller installed?

I have attached a link to a helpful article that explains step-by-step how to install a brake controller on your 2013 Silverado with the factory brake controller installed.

You do not need to do anything with the factory controller. You will install the new brake controller by hardwiring it to the wires located under the dash about where your left shin is when in the driver seat.

Connect the wires as follows:
GM Wire to Brake Control Wire Function
Red/Black to Black Battery Power
White to White Ground
Light Blue/White to Red Brake Light Signal
Drk Blue N/A Brake Control Output to Trailer
Orange N/A Center High Mount Stop Lamp (CHMSL).

You will then need to run a 12-gauge wire like part # 12-1-1 from the Blue wire on the new brake controller back to the 7-way trailer connector on your truck. At the back of the 7-way you will need to cut the Blue wire about 4 to 6 inches from the back of the 7-way. Then attach the wire you ran from the brake controller to the 7-way Blue wire.

As the helpful article explains, you will need to connect two more wires under the hood. In the article there are photos that show where the wires need to be run.
