For your 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, the Duncan Towmatic II can be used if you use the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # 278-1 along with the RoadMaster Base Plates to Duncan Towmatic II, Karbar and EazAligner Tow Bars Adapter # RM-038. I recommend using Loctite Threadlocker # LT37420 for your baseplate installation. I also recommend the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000 lbs # RM-643 for your safety cables.
For your vehicle wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 which will give you a nice clean connection as well as use your factory wiring for a clean look.
For your braking system, I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251. This system is a proportional braking system that only requires adjustment at installation. After that, it is plug and play. This is a very nice system that our installers love because it is extremely reliable.
The last thing you will need is a high-low adapter. I've attached an article to help and linked the page to all of your options for your convenience.
