Recommended Folding Cargo Carrier For Increased Clearance When Not In Use

Updated 02/27/2017 | Published 02/24/2017

Question:

I have a cargo carrier that I would like to be able to store in an upright position in the carrier when not in use so that it does not hang so far off the back of my vechicle. Do you make a 2 inch adaptor that would serv this purpose. Essentially a L of 2 inch w one leg in the receiver and the cargo carrier standing up in the upright leg.

I recommend getting a cargo carrier with the folding feature like the 20x59 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - Folding - 500 lbs # C18151. The distance from the center of hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier when folded up is 9 inches and to the outside edge is 17-3/4 inches. This carrier has a 2 inch shank rise and is 40 lbs.

There isn't an adapter for the non-folding cargo carrier to be stored vertically. We have an L adapter # C45013, but it is only for use with a vertical hitch in the drop position. It won't fit the application you are referring to.

I've linked the page to all our folding carriers that fit a 2 inch receiver for you.
