Question:
Can winds cause leaks around the vent?
asked by: Ann
Expert Reply:
Extremely heavy winds can cause leaks around the vent, but this is incredibly rare. Normally a leak will be from a crack in a lid that needs replaced. We have vent lids to replace damaged ones like # BVD0449-A01. There are different styles of hinges, to choose from, so you want to make sure you are replacing one if the correct hinge style.
If you would like to mitigate the water from winds I recommend a vent cover like # CAM40431 or # MA00-955003. These covers install over the vent lid to allow air flow and yet protect the vent from other elements.
