in regards to the surco spare tire cargo basket SJ4319: I am wondering what is the total length of the mounting post that stays attached to the vehicle? I have a tire cover and need to know if the post will interfere... I see you carry the replacement mount, and that description gives the size of the plate: I am looking for the length of the horizontal post that the basket fits into..

The Surco Spare-Tire-Mounted Cargo Basket - 19" Long x 43" Wide # SPSJ4319 has a removable mount as you mentioned. The Replacement Back Plate for Surco Spare Tire Mounted Cargo Adapter # SPN550 is the exact same part as that which comes with the carrier and the mounting shank is 5-1/2 inches long. Most tire covers will fit over this without issue.
