Question:

Need to tow 2016 Ford Focus behind our RV. Ford requires: Disconnect the negative black cable from the battery. Would like information on battery disconnect options and also need to power supplemental braking system. Also need information on wiring brake and turn signals and how to power those as well. Thank you!

There are a few things you need when you are flat-towing a vehicle. It sounds like you have checked yoru owner's manual and have some valuable information.

You will need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and a supplemental brake system. And to make sure you tow your Focus level you may need a high-low adapter for the trailer hitch. I will make some recommendations for each item and the battery disconnect.

The base plates I recommend for your Focus is the Demco Base Plate Kit, part # DM9519324.

For a tow bar I recommend the Demco Commander part # DM9511012. I like the Demco tow bars because of the independent arms and they include a rise or drop. It also comes with the safety cables included.

For lighting, the best option is the easy to install magnetic light kit # PE26UR. If you are looking for something more permanently installed, I recommend part # RM-15247.

The supplemental brake system I recommend is the Stay-IN-Play DUO, part # SM99251.
