Expert Reply:
The Curt Pintle Hook with 2-5/16" Ball - 2" Hitches - 12,000 lbs/16,000 lbs, # C48006, is an excellent hitch that allows you to pull a trailer with a lunette ring coupler or a trailer with a standard 2-5/16 inch coupler. This hitch fits into a 2 inch receiver and is made of forged steel with rust-resistant finishes like black powder coat and chrome. A tethered safety pin is included.
It will fit lunette rings with a diameter of 2-1/2 inches or 3 inches. The gross towing weight using the pintle hook is 16,000 lbs and the capacity of the 2-5/16 inch hitch ball towing is 12,000 lbs. I've attached a picture to help with dimensions of the actual hitch.
This ball mount/pintle hook does not come with a pin and clip, so you will want one like # PC3. For a locking pin for more security, you may like # e98880.
