The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2007 New Beetle is the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch, part # 24679.

This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.

If you are planning on doing some light towing I recommend a drawbar like part # 3594. This has a 4-inch rise for better ground clearance. For a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball I recommend part # 19256, and for a 2-inch ball you can use part # 19258. If this ball mount does not work for you check out the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
