Are Reese Revolution Pin Boxes and Sidewinders the Same Thing

Updated 11/28/2016 | Published 11/26/2016

Question:

I have a 40 foot fifth wheel, GVWR 15,500 and want to replace the pin with a great option for a short bed Ford F350. What do you think about a Reese Air Sidewider pin18K with the Revolution hitch 18K? Are their better combs out there?

Reese Revolutions and Sidewinders are actually the exact same thing. They just are labelled differently depending on where they are sold. The Sidewinder is the aftermarket name and the Revolution is the name they use if the unit was installed on the trailer from the factory.

For short bed truck towing there really isn't a better option available. This setup will allow you to make tight turns without needing to get out and activate a slider hitch to give you additional turning clearance.

Sidewinders are pin box specific so you will first need to know what pin box you have now in order to pick out the correct one.

There should be a sticker or a stamping on the OEM pin box of the trailer that will list the pin box number that is on the trailer.

Once you figure out which pin box you have you can check the FAQ I attached that has a chart that shows the correct Sidewinder to get based on which pin box you have.
