Question:
Is this product superior to the other products on the market such as the Stowaway hitch tightener? Road master pushes down while Stowaway pushes up. Not sure about the engineering physics. Or doesnt it matter which way the tightening occurs from?

Expert Reply:
The Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-061 and other hitch immobilizers use the force from tightening the U-bolt to force the hitch shank or ball mount to seat tight against the opening of your vehicle's hitch. The hitch immobilizers are designed eliminate the rattle and help secure the hitch mounted accessory.
The main difference between the Quiet Hitch and the StowAway style, we have a version of this anti-rattle device # RSCP, is that one was designed by a company that make tow bars and the StowAway part was designed by a company that make cargo carriers. The two hitch immobilizers are marketed toward different applications, but they will both perform the same in either situation.
