Will Changing to Larger Trailer Wheels Reduce Bearing Operating Temperature

Question:
I have a 14 inch wheel currently and want to go to a 15 inch because I have been told that that will help keep the wheel bearings cooler. Is this true or Bs?

A larger diameter wheel will make fewer rotations for any given distance than a smaller wheel. Strictly speaking, this means that those fewer rotations of the wheel could mean a VERY small potential change in the operating temperature of the bearings. This tiny potential temperature difference is not something to concern yourself over. So long as you maintain a suitable grease level in your hubs there would not be any real benefit from moving to the larger wheel.
You may care to have a look at the linked article concerning trailer maintenance. This provides a good summary of the routine maintenance required to help you keep your trailer in a safe working condition. The article includes links to the various trailer parts discussed. I also included a link to an article on bearing grease that explains the available types.
