Question:
can I buy just the magnet for electric brakes

Yes, we offer a whole range of replacement parts for electric drum brakes including magnets. I have included two links you can click on to see all drum brake parts and just the various types of magnets we offer. Click on your brake drum size, such as 12 x 2-inch for example, and the axle weight rating to see the appropriate magnets for that brake. For example, part # AKBRKR-M12 fits a 12 x 2 brake rated between 5200- and 7000-lbs.
If you have a brake that needs a new magnet and other replacement parts you might want to consider simply replacing the entire brake assembly since it is often less costly than even just a few parts. In case you want to go this route I also included a link to complete drum brake assemblies. Start by selecting your axle weight rating and be sure to select both a left- and right-hand brake.
If you prefer to install new magnets do note that they are NOT polarized, so either of the two magnet wires can be used for the ground connection or the hot side.
