Does it matter which side of the truck this box goes on?

DeeZee wheel well toolbox # DZ94B is for the passenger's side of the truck. The driver's side version is different, # DZ95B. The difference is which way the lid opens. In either case when placed on the proper side the lid opens up towards the center of the bed.
